Process Modules and Skids

Products | Process Modules and Skids

Modular skids and modules are self-contained systems with piping, columns, reactors, drums, decanters, heat exchangers, pumps and other types of process equipment, all mounted within a structural steel frame . The structural steel frame serves as a shipping support and provides access to the equipment for normal operation and maintenance.

Depending upon their design, individual skids can contain complete process systems or multiple skids can be combined to create larger process systems or entire portable plants. These modular skids have a wide range of applications in the petrochemicals, natural gas, energy and many other industries.

Process skids are considered an alternative to traditional stick-built construction where process system parts are shipped individually and installed incrementally at the manufacturing site. They provide the advantage of parallel construction, where process systems are built off-site in a fabrication facility while civil construction is completed at the plant site simultaneously.

We have supplied several Pressure Swing Adsorption PSA Skids to multiple projects across the globe. These skids are commonly uses for Gas Separation at large process plants.

Benefits of Process Modules and Skids include:
  • Portability – due to self-contained design, built within structural frames, skid systems are easier to transport Vs. than traditional process systems.

  • Smaller Footprint – most process skids are designed with equipment layering. Piping, Accessories, Valves, Tanks and other equipment can be fitted into a smaller and more compact space.

  • Scalability and Controlled Assembly – as skids are typically assembled in larger factories with access to larger and more advanced machines – you can scale and control assembly of skids more easily than typical field construction.

  • Lower Construction Costs – craft labor costs in the field usually exceeds cost of factory based labor in most of the world. By using Skids and Modules manufactured in factory settings, plant construction costs can usually be reduced.

  • Trial Assembly before installation – Trial assembly and acceptance testing is usually completed before modular process skids are shipped to project locations. This reduces the amount of time that is generally required for start up.
